Behavior Management
Behavior management is vital to running a classroom. Having a good behavior system encourages the students to do their best because they want to be recognized and they want to share their success with their families. A good behavior system focuses on positive recognition and restorative consequences.
While every classroom and group of students are different, it is important to develop a behavior tracking system that works best in the classroom not the teacher. Every year the behavior management system might need changed or a few modifications made to the system to support the students. While I have used a variety of systems, the ones listed below have been the most successful in the past ten years of teaching.

Whole Class Color System
This is a popular system that works in most classrooms and for most students. This is the system that I currently use in my classrooms; however, when a student needs something more individualized I use alternative systems for them.

Individual Color System
This is an example of an individual color system I use if a student is able to respond to the whole class color system, but needs something near-point as a visual reminder, or does not respond well to their behavior being on display in front of the entire class.

Individual Visual Schedule with Tokens
This is a more intensive support. The student was able to earn tokens for completing tasks without having any behaviors. The student had a visual of what he was working towards and could keep the tokens on his desk as long as he did not play with them.
